Preparations in Baden 2010

China's rapid changes, its economic, political, and social developments in all their
contradictions, and its almost industrial-scale art production make Beijing one of
the most exciting places in the world. The Austrian government has maintained
a studio there since 2008. Scholarship recipient Ulrike Johannsen spent several
months in Beijing and is now inviting exciting international artists to the Kunstverein
Baden to explore various aspects of the city of Beijing and the People's Republic
of China. If you want to experience the culture clash on Chinese-made T-shirts
or are interested in what residents of a Beijing hutong have to say about cultural
exchange, we invite you to visit the Dongxi exhibition at the Kunstverein Baden.
You can take an interactive stroll through Beijing, meet Ronald McDonald in a
traditional Beijing opera, or visit the DICA - Donkey Museum of Contemporary Art,
which will be visiting Baden on May 21. The meeting point is at 6 p.m. in front
of the Kunstverein gallery, Beethovengasse 7.
